We think of abstract painting as ‘modern’ but Kandinsky began painting his first totally abstract paintings back in 1910.
Well if you want to be fair you have to go back to the 19th century.As the romaticism,impressionism and expressionism movements led to abstract art.People like Whistler,Constable,Corot, and Cezanne. Though there is such a thing called Modern Abstract art.
